b'The contract for George Allens articles of clerkship signed by Frederick Garling, Thomas Collicott and George Allen on 21 July 1817 is still held by Allens. In the contract, Frederick Garling agrees to provide Georges legal training, as well as good and sufficient meat, drink, lodging and all manner of apparel, both linen and woollen, fit for his use and also washing and medicines in case of illness for a period of five years.7'
